Recently, I got the opportunity to shoot the drive by truckers for the Skinny magazine. They were playing at Liquid Room as part of the Edge festival.
Live music photography presents unique challenges to a photographer. There's a strange combination of blind luck, knowing how gigs are lit, anticipating what might happen in the next few seconds and good equipment (a fast lens is a must - I use a f1.8 prime and my gorgeous 24-70mm f2.8 to ensure i can shoot in such low light conditions). Still, capturing a "moment" on stage can be a very rewarding experience for me and I certainly enjoy the challenge of live photography.
