Edinburgh Festival.

Well, the start of August sees the start of the Edinburgh International Festival and the Fringe festival (as well as a dozen other smaller festivals dotted about the city).

This means Edinburgh is once again awash with performers and drama students shouting at you while you try and get a cup of coffee.

Next week I'll be coordinating a small team of photographers to document the Fest magazine Launch party at Cabaret Voltaire which should be a pretty fun night hopefully.

I enjoy events photography, people are always nice and friendly, everyone's dressed up and is usually more than happy to get their photo taken...

As well as more established jobs during the festival, I'm also aiming to build up my portfolio of street portraiture. Works by artists such as Bresson (of course), Robert Frank and Philip-Lorca diCordi fascinate me for being able to turn something mundane into something wonderful and I'm curious to guage my ability to see in a similar way.
